Thy Cities Shall With Commerce Shine is an upcoming four-part video series that addresses legislative injustice using one insurance marketplace—Lloyd’s of London—as a springboard. Part II researches Lloyd's of London unique position of being the only insurance market place for kidnap and ransom insurance.
Part II is still in the research phase, and begins by tracing the beginning of life insurance and kidnap and ransom insurance back to the transatlantic slave trade; created from a white European fear of being kidnapped at sea. It investigates the current structure of the industry, where it came from, and who profits.
